Default Please learn how to behave when visiting South Padre Island

I apologize in advance if this message offends anyone, but if you are offended by it you should look at your behavior. I have lived on the Island for 4 years now. Each year I grow more and more disgusted by the behavior of valley residents. During Spring Break the vast majority of violent crime is committed by valley residents. Virtually all of the reported rapes and assaults were committed by people from Donna, Wesleco, Brownsville, McAllen, etc......I have seen packs of valley kids running down the street with video camaras basically molesting women. These kids aren't contributing anything positive to the island. They don't eat at the restaurants or stay in the hotels. They just drive around in circles adding to the traffic jam. The sad thing is seeing how their parents behave it is no wonder why the kids behave the way they do. The "grownups" are horrible. They are rude to restaurant workers, making a huge mess on the beach, and tip like crap. People, waiters only get paid 2.13 an hour. If you can't afford to tip 15% DON'T COME TO THE ISLAND. Stick to luby's cafeteria or the numerous buffet options. As a fellow hispanic the behaviour of valley residents makes me ashamed. It is not all valley people, but the ones who act like classless jackasses are the majority. People on the island despise valley folks and with good reason. They call you valley trash due to the way you behave. The term valley trash has even gotten into popular culture. http://www.urbandictionary.com/defi...rm=Valley+Trash
Please, represent hispanics is a positive way.

Point well taken... maybe this should be forwarded to some of the TV stations around Spring Break Time.. Maybe on Channel 4's listens line or the Monitor or something similar.. What we need is awareness.. I was not even aware of the term 'Valley Trash" until now.. I will copy this thread to the "Whine Cellar"
